Plan your own Serving event in your community: Be creative, do it as a family! Really, any act of service that helps someone else in need is an act of service to God.

Ideally, we would like to have your family involved if you have children living with you. You may select an indoor or an outdoor project. You might also consider teaming up with another family or group of families and experience the joy of serving together. Spend a few hours helping your neighbors or a family you know that needs assistance with various things like:

  • Gardening
  • Mowing the yard
  • Cleaning windows
  • Painting
  • Raking leaves
  • Washing cars
  • Reading or just spending time listening to or
    playing games with shut-ins
  • Changing oil in a car
  • Planting flowers
  • Walking a pet
  • Watering grass
  • Taking care of children, etc.
  • Preparing a meal

There are so many different ways to serve others. Take a little more time to plan and choose something that you can manage, and that suits your talents and skills. It is always best to do something that interests you and that you are able to do, and can have fun with. The Families Helping Families Serve-a-Thon is an ideal opportunity for your family to make real difference to another person or family.

Some examples:
